Albert Rieger

Austrian 🇦🇹 1834 - 1905

Albert Rieger (1834-1905) was an Austrian painter and photographer renowned for his European landscapes, including alpine scenes, North Sea motifs, and Italian coastlines. Exhibited in Munich and Paris, his works are part of prestigious collections, such as the Museum of Altenburg and in Wroclaw. Crown prince Rudolf acquired two of his landscapes. In the latter half of the 19th century, Rieger shifted towards photography with his brother Carl, embracing new technology over traditional painting.


Rieger was honored with both the Gold Austrian Medal and the Great Golden Swedish-Norwegian Medal for his artistic achievements, highlighting his significant contributions to European art.
