Charles Edward Dixon

Charles Edward Dixon (1872–1934) was a British maritime painter, celebrated for his nautical scenes and naval subjects. Born in Goring-on-Thames and educated by his genre painter father, Alfred Dixon, Charles embarked on a successful career, exhibiting at the Royal Academy and contributing to periodicals like The Graphic. His works, which include both watercolours and large oil paintings, are held in high regard, with several pieces in the National Maritime Museum’s collection. A member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours since 1900, Dixon lived in Itchenor, Sussex, where he was also a keen yachtsman.
