Childe Hassam was a successful American Impressionist painter. He is credited with making Impressionist painting popular with the American market, and he had much success in his later career. Over his career he created more than 3,000 paintings. The subjects of his paintings are mainly urban and coastal scenes.


Childe Hassam put a crescent moon at the beginning of his signature. The reason behind this embellishment is not known.
