Belgian 🇧🇪 1581 - 1642
Frans Francken the Younger was from a famous and successful family of artists. He is best known for his smaller scale, very detailed mythological and religious scenes. He also produced some larger scale alterpieces and collector’s cabinets, and is credited with influencing future artists by introducing new subject matter and genres into the repertoire.
Three generations of Francken men all signed their work with virtually the same signature, making it difficult to distinguish which artist created which work.
