Gustav Klimt was a Symbolist painter known for his murals, paintings, and sketches. He was a prominent member of the Vienna Secession movement and was heavily influenced by Japanese artistic methods. His work was controversial at the time and criticized for being pornographic. He is most well known today for paintings he created during his ‘golden phase.’
