Katerina Husar Lazarova

🇨🇿 Czech
San Diego-based artist Katerina’s artistic journey began in the Czech Republic, where she studied graphic design and art therapy. After moving to the US in 2018, she attended Mesa College, completing her Associate of Arts degree in 2021. She then transferred to UCSD to pursue Studio Arts, graduating in 2023. That same year, she established her studio in the Arts District Liberty Station, marking a significant milestone in her career. Her paintings are primarily based on personal narratives, with themes emerging from cultivating automatic line drawings into specific shapes, objects, or figures. For Katerina, creating art is a journey of discovering her mind’s internal processes and the external circumstances that impact her. She aims to transfer these observations into a visual map through her works, helping to find a way inside herself and understand her recent life experiences. Her work often involves experimenting with different techniques and materials, resulting in dynamic and engaging art practice.
