Leonetto Cappiello

Italian 🇮🇹 1875 - 1942

Leonetto Cappiello is considered by many to be the ‘father of modern advertising.’ He was an Italian poster artist who mostly worked in Paris. He is one of the first poster illustrators to use high contrast in his designs, as opposed to the more muted and harmonious color choices that were popular at the time.

Cappiello had no formal art training.
