Paul Klee

Swiss 🇨🇭 1879 - 1940

Paul Klee was a Swiss-German artist. He created over 10,000 pieces of work during his lifetime, and his style is individualized and recognizable. His work has influences from Surrealism, expressionism, and cubism. He taught at the famous Bauhaus art school and became an expert in color theory.

Klee served in World War I, but was deemed exempt from active combat because of his career as an artist. Instead, he painted the camouflage onto German war planes.

Color possesses me. I don't have to pursue it. It will possess me always, I know it. That is the meaning of this happy hour. Color and I are one. I am a painter.
