Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita

Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita was a graphic artist whose mainly produced wood engravings, etchings, lithographs, and watercolors. He was famously a teacher of M.C. Escher. Jessurun de Mesquita was a Shepardic Jew and had to limit his artistic production during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. He was murdered at Auschwitz concentration camp in 1944.
