Tivadar Csontváry Kosztka was an avant-garde painter and was one of the first Hungarian artists to reach prominence in Europe. He was most active between 1903 and 1909, creating over 100 pieces during his lifetime. His art draws from many artistic movements, but its wholy his own style.
In 1880, he had a vision that told him he would be the greatest painter in the world- even greater than the famous High Renaissance painter Raphael.
